Burnt House
Just one mile west of the historic market town of Ross-on-Wye, Burnt House is located in the small village of Bridstow. Ross on Wye, nestling in the South Herefordshire countryside, is an ancient town with panoramic views overlooking the River Wye. The town, with peaceful gardens and excellent walks beside the River, came into the forefront of British tourism as part of the Wye Tour and the Wye Valley remains a popular tourist centre right up to the present day especially the world-famous beauty spot of Symonds Yat.
The Wye is a wonderful majestic river, teeming with wildlife and offering something for everyone – ideal for those who have never canoed before through to experienced canoeists who fancy a challenge. The less active can take a motorboat excursion along the River and other attractions include Goodrich and Monmouth Castles, a number of National Trust houses and nearby Forest of Dean, as well as the Malverns and Brecon Beacons.
Built at the turn of the last century, Burnt House is a former - now extended - agricultural worker's cottage with landscaped garden, suitable for up to 4 adults and two small children. Nearby is the picturesque St Bridget’s Church and there are a number of excellent country pubs within 2-10 miles, the nearest being the popular gastro-pub the Lough Pool at Sellack. The award winning restaurant at the Wilton Court Hotel is within 15 minutes walking distance, as is the chic cafe of the fashionable "eco-salvage" store, Bailey's Home & Garden.
